I have a few very serious fears. One is of the dark. Two is of the woods. Three is of getting lost. And the biggie, at number four, is of going over bridges and through tunnels. Here’s why. I can’t imagine what those people went through. It’s a real loss of control issue for me, the feeling that there’s nothing underneath me, that the whole thing is just going to collapse or turn into a Galloping Gertie. The tunnel thing is a sort of claustrophobic thing, that the whole tunnel is going to implode leaving me underwater and drowning (Fear #5). I almost passed out from hyperventilating going through the Lincoln Tunnel the other night coming home from The ‘Boken. I hate it. It’s really fucking crippling. What are some of your fears?
Got a call yesterday while at the Rockefeller State Park while I was chillin’ with my hubs; could I possibly make it for yet another Very Exciting Event today on my lunch break? Sure, who needs to eat? Not I! So the hubs and I were up ’til 3 am working on a set of ten questions to ask today. The Event went really well, even though I had to totally book it back to work in order not to be late. I was told that my questions were really good ones (bien sûr que oui!), and that I would know The Outcome in a few days. Dangling by tenterhooks!
Finally finished the second pair of OnLine socks! I posted them on Ravelry last night, but I was too busy thinking up clever questions to post here. They’re a tiny bit long in the foot, and there is only one mistake in the second sock, but otherwise I’m really tickled pink about them. I think they’re my best project yet! I don’t think I’ve remembered to post anything about Ravelry yet, what a dope! It really is the absolute coolest site, and I’m a beta tester! It’s a wicked cool way to keep track of everything yarny; your stash, library, projects, ideas, friends…There are even groups, like Hudson Valley Ravelers (which I was invited to join) and One Stitch At A Time (a group for knitters with depression, which my friend Penny invited me to join) (not, not that Penny, the other one, I know, they’re both on Ravelry, imagine me with two friends named Penny!), and Up With Toes!, a group for people who like knitting toe-up socks. For every different kind of knitter (and crocheter), there’s a multitude of groups to join and friends to make. I really like the community so far. You put your name on the list to get invited to join, and then they invite you. It can take a while; there are tons of people clamoring for invites, but you’ll get yours, just wait.
My sister has finally gone into the hospital to have the baby. She’s nine days overdue, and frankly, who wouldn’t want to see the little creature by now? Tomorrow we’ll know what’s been brewing for so long!
Two nights at work, two random roller derby references: Monday night, a customer came to my register. She was inked all over her arms, cool tats. I saw this teeny button on her bag that read, “Suburban Roller Derby.” My eyes got wide and I asked her if she played. She said, yeah, only for two months, and she loves it. Her name is Cherry Only (I dunno) and if I’m interested, I should email SlimFast at SRD. Then, tonight, a couple comes to my register, he’s wearing a Gotham Girls shirt, so I ask her if she plays. She says, no, my sister does though, and she loves it. She’s on the Brooklyn Bombshells. I tell her about the SRD and her eyes get wide. This is too coincidental, and totally random. I think I may be up for it!
