The squirrel ended up being too big for this hawk to carry off; the hawk left it splayed out on its back in my backyard. Looovely. I’m going to try to find out what kind of hawk it was. Again, I know about the whole “Circle of Life” thing, but that doesn’t mean I want it paraded around on my property. Poor, dead squirrel, left so rudely to decompose. And to attract other carrion-eating carnivores. Like the giant raccoon I saw leaving my deck the other night. Or vultures.
Today’s the day I get to give notice. I’m nervous, and excited, and all sorts of different things all at once. It’s bittersweet, this, because I really used to love my job, and I really like (nearly) all the people I work with. That’s why I didn’t go in yesterday on my day off to quit. Because if they do as I suspect they will, and just say to go and not finish out the week (which is perfectly fine by me, even preferable), I’ll want time to say goodbye to everyone. I can’t wait to tell Judy!
